The power of the Concord grape can now be harnessed in a wider range of nutrition applications following the launch of FruitWorx® Concord Grape Juice Powder by Welch’s Global Ingredients Group.

The new powder is made with a proprietary dehydration process that gently removes all the water from Concord grape juice but captures its natural wholesomeness and retains its bold flavor and rich purple color. The resulting product is a free-flowing, soluble, low water activity powder that is ideal for use in a host of applications, including nutraceuticals and functional foods.

FruitWorx® Concord Grape Juice Powder delivers the same kind of polyphenols found in Welch’s 100% Grape Juice. It is free from artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, and is non-GMO. The new powder will be presented by Welch’s Global Ingredients Group on Booth R169 at SupplySide West in Las Vegas (4-8 October 2016).

Concord grape juice powder is an extension of the existing FruitWorx® brand, which already encompasses a range of Concord and Niagara grape-based fruit pieces, flakes and pastes, made using a concentration technology called URC®, developed by Taura Natural Ingredients.

In addition, Welch’s Global Ingredients Group also supplies Concord and Niagara grape juices as single-strength juices, concentrates and purées.

Named after Concord, Massachusetts – where it was first grown – the Concord grape is famous for its purple skin, bold taste and naturally occurring polyphenols. About 20 years of research has demonstrated that, thanks to the Concord grape and its polyphenols, Concord grape juice helps support a healthy heart. And, while more research is needed, preliminary studies suggest that Concord grape juice may provide benefits in other areas of health, including cognitive function. In addition, a recent publication has shown that Concord grape juice has a greater concentration of these health-promoting polyphenols than several leading ‘superfruit’ juices.

IKAR invites 07 September XXII international conference "Black sea grain and oilseeds 2016/17"

he XXII International Conference "Black Sea Grain and Oilseeds 2016/17 will take place on September, 07 in the hotel “Azimut Moscow Olympic”. The Russian Grain Union and the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies will host this oldest Russian grain conference. The conference is held under support of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

Historically this conference is a key grain event. It traditionally takes place at a time when the contours of new harvest are quite clear, while both the market prices and regulator’s behavior are still being formed.

Traditionally the participants will be offered highly topical and comprehensive Program. The Conference will be attended by key representatives of the Government of the Russian Federation, representatives of biggest domestic agroholdings, domestic and multinational traders, millers and feed millers, oilseed crushers, export terminal managers, banks, and domestic policy makers. It is expected that 250-300 Russian and foreign guests will take part in the Conference.

Among the speakers are the most authoritative international and Russian experts. In particular, during the Conference a report will be made by Mr. Dan Basse, President of the well-known international analytical agency AgResource. Within the frames of the Conference following themes will be considered: legislative support and state regulation of the Russian grain market, new trends on the world grain and oilseed markets, crop size and quality evaluation in three FSU Black Sea countries, the sowing campaign of winter crops.

The 4th Moscow Grain Dinner will be held after the conference for the heads of companies.

Conferencia Magistral en World Meat Congress 2016.

Allan Savory brindará una  Conferencia Magistral en el Próximo Congreso Mundial de la Carne WMC 2016, que tendrá lugar en Punta del Este entre el 8 y el 9 de Noviembre. Esta actividad se cumplirá el miércoles 9 a las 14:35.

Allan Savory,  nació en Zimbabue, se formó en Zoología y Botánica en Sudáfrica, en la Universidad de Natal.

Inició su carrera como biólogo, investigador y guardaparques en el Servicio Colonial Británico de la entonces Rhodesia del Norte (actualmente Zambia) y más tarde fue agricultor y guardaparques en Zimbabue.

Se destacó en la década de los 60 por sus contribuciones a la comprensión de lo que estaba causando la degradación y desertificación de los ecosistemas de los pastizales del mundo.

En ese marco, trabajó como consultor de gestión de recursos con varios administradores de tierras en cuatro continentes para desarrollar soluciones sostenibles.

Su conferencia se centrará en  esta experiencia y en su hoja de vida a partir del Instituto Savory, creado en 2009  junto a su esposa y un grupo de colegas  en Colorado, para crear una red internacional de empresarios innovadores y líderes comprometidos con el servicio a sus regiones.

Este Instituto es uno de los 11 finalistas en el Virgin Earth Challenge, una iniciativa de US$25 millones para la comercialización exitosa de formas para capturar gases de efecto invernadero de la atmósfera y mantenerlos fuera sin impactos compensatorios.

En 2009 fundó el  Centro Africano, el primer centro  gestionado a nivel local a partir de la donación de un establecimiento para que se convirtiera en un sitio de aprendizaje para las personas de toda Africa.

En 2003, Allan Savory recibió el Premio Internacional Banksia de Australia "para la persona u organización que hace el mayor esfuerzo para el medioambiente a nivel global", y en 2010 Savory (y el Centro Africano) recibieron el premio Desafío del Buckminster Fuller Institute por el trabajo que tiene "un potencial significativo para resolver los problemas más apremiantes de la humanidad."

Una charla TED  que Savory dio en el año 2013 recibió más de 3.4 millones de visitas y en 2014 fue elegida como una de las 50 charlas TED más interesantes de todos los tiempos.
